Hello!

We are just four months from the traditional Akoostik Festival on the third weekend in October.
We feel it is very important now that we share with YOU the important people who have made us what we are, where we are up to in AKOOSTIK land.
We had firm plans for 2020, we were super organised and had all our amazing artists booked in March. Then of course, as we all know our plans had to be put on hold. In this time of creative hibernation we have cleverly adapted to a new shape for our 2020 year!
We feel the Showground AKOOSTIK is a little too unpredictable to manage this year, although we will return there in 2021.
So we have reshaped and resized it down a little. This year we will present the “Down the Street” festival on the same dates as Akoostik – October 15, 16 & 17. We are still working on the final shape of the event but it will be LIVE to a limited number of attendees and we aim to provide some digital live streaming of Akoostik Artist performances to share with you if you cannot attend.
We are taking seriously our obligation to present a community event as a reason of celebrating emerging to a new normal, to reflect on the 12 month anniversary from the last October bushfires and the rebuilding of community spirit that arose from that time. We also want to present the smaller festival on the streets of Wingham to support the lovely cafes, boutiques and businesses on the main street.
We would love to hear from you to help shape this new event. Are you still keen to travel to Wingham in October?
What can we do to make you feel safe?
We will ensure the venues we work with have secure guidelines in place for social distancing and sanitisation.
We as a festival-loving community have been stuck in a difficult position, we are keen to start bringing artists back to “live in front of your eyes“ performance and we want to do that safely and respectfully.
Our event will be in the uncrowded open-air of our friendly rural town with wide streets and a big heart, ready to bring happiness!
